Employee retention is the resource investment of a company or an employer. A seasoned and experienced employee of a company is the valuable asset of the company and his attrition may cause an irreparable loss to the company, unless and until a suitable replacement takes over the assignment. It may take a number of years of service, training, coaching and mentoring of a new incumbent to reach to the level of efficiency and competence of the relinquished employee. Every employer understands too well the gravity of the loss caused by the migration of an experienced employee, and would never wish lay offs. When an employee is subjected to prolonged overwork, and not duly compensated, his stress level increases, and he may prefer to quit. Lack of career opportunities in the organisation are a major cause of employee attrition. Quite often, the discord between the boss and the junior may result into later quitting the job. These, and many more, may be the reasons of attrition of employees. |
